“Ekniti” Highlights STI Strategy at IIF to Attract Global Investment and Prepare Thailand for a New Era of Growth

Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, joined an “In Conversation” session with Tim Adams, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of International Finance (IIF), at the IIF Annual Membership Meeting 2026. Held at The Athenee Hotel, Bangkok, under the theme “Growth, Risk, and the New Map of Global Finance,” the session provided an opportunity to outline Thailand’s economic and fiscal direction under the STI strategy (Stabilise–Transition–Invest).

The strategy aims to maintain economic stability in the near term, accelerate structural economic transformation, and invest in future growth. It is designed to help Thailand navigate global economic volatility, geopolitical tensions, and technological change, while maintaining fiscal discipline and ensuring targeted support for the public.

Dr. Ekniti also presented Thailand’s approach to investment-led growth, focusing on promoting investment in clean energy, AI, and advanced electronics. The approach also seeks to ensure that foreign direct investment generates employment, facilitates technology transfer, and strengthens the capabilities of Thai businesses.

He emphasised the roles of the private sector, financial institutions, and capital markets in mobilising funding to drive economic growth. He also highlighted Thailand’s role as a “Trusted Connector”, linking ASEAN with the global economy. By leveraging this position, Thailand aims to turn global volatility and emerging challenges into investment opportunities and pave the way for a new era of economic growth.
