Media Guidelines

As part of the 2026 Annual Meetings in Bangkok,Thailand. Media and journalists attending the event must follow the procedures outlined below.

Thai and Thailand-based foreign media who plan to attend the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings may now register online, from today through September 25, 2026, free of charge. Please refer to the checklist below for the registration procedure and required documents. For international media based outside Thailand, information on registration will be updated later.

Press Equipment

International journalists traveling with professional media equipment (e.g., cameras, LiveU units, audio equipment, lighting equipment, or other broadcast gear) should comply with Thai customs requirements and bring all relevant customs documentation to present to Thai customs authorities at the airport in Bangkok upon arrival.

✓ Journalists from countries participating in the ATA Carnet system should obtain an ATA Carnet before traveling and present it at the airport of entry.

✓ Journalists from countries that do not participate in the ATA Carnet system should prepare the required documents listed in Annex 1 of this Guide and present them at the airport of entry. You are welcome to have the documents reviewed in advance by sending them to the email addresses below to verify their completeness and accuracy before traveling. You may also contact the customs offices with any questions.

Media based in Thailand do not need to complete these procedures for equipment already located in the country.

Filming and Recording Inside Venue

Media filming inside the official venues must adhere to access and accreditation rules set by the IMF, World Bank, and Thai host authorities. Specific media zones and press conference areas will be designated.

Cultural & Legal

Cultural and Legal Considerations in Thailand

Respect for the Monarchy: Any disrespectful representation of the Thai Royal Family is a serious criminal offense under Thai law.
Religious Sites: When filming in temples or religious areas, proper attire and respectful conduct are mandatory.
Prohibited Content: Filming involving sensitive / violent content may be restricted.
Drones: Use of drones requires prior authorization from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).

Interview Requests with Thai Officials

The IMF's and World Bank Group's Media Relations teams facilitate interview requests for IMF and World Bank Group officials. However, press officers do not service interview requests for official country delegations to the Meetings. Requests to interview country officials or other

delegation members must be directed to the delegations or through the Executive Directors representing their constituencies.
