Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and Mr. Vitai Ratanakorn, Governor of the Bank of Thailand, shared perspectives on Thailand’s economic journey over the past 35 years since the country last hosted the IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings in 1991.
Drawing on lessons from past crises and periods of economic transformation, they exchanged views on the key lessons from Thailand’s development path and the role of macroeconomic policies and the financial system in strengthening resilience and supporting inclusive growth.
Looking ahead, they highlighted that building a stronger and more resilient Thai economy will require a combination of sound economic policies, structural reforms, and greater adoption of AI and digital finance. These will be essential for enhancing the competitiveness of businesses and supporting growth that is robust, sustainable, and inclusive.
