Highlights from the visit to Thailand by the Parliamentary Network of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group under the Parliamentarians in the Field Program

The Parliamentarians in the Field Program serves as a key platform that enables Members of Parliament from around the world to engage in on-the-ground learning and exchange real-world economic experiences. This year, the program took place in Thailand, which will also serve as the host country of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings in October. During June 23–25, the delegation visited and held policy dialogues with key institutions across multiple sectors, including Parliament House, the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Thailand, Thai Credit Bank, Benjakitti Park, and the Community Organizations Development Institute (CODI), to exchange comprehensive perspectives on economic development.

This field visit enhanced parliamentarians’ in-depth understanding of Thailand’s development approaches and responses to key economic challenges, including job creation, digitalization, infrastructure development, debt management, and private sector mobilization.

These priorities align closely with the support provided by the IMF and the World Bank Group, reflecting the strength of international cooperation in driving inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economic growth. The visit also contributes to building momentum toward the upcoming global stage at the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings, to be held in Thailand from October 12–18
